Foo Fighters and Royal Blood at Citi Field 7/16/15

Last Thursday, the Foo Fighters played a sold out Citi Field. Foo Fighters are on tour to celebrate twenty years of their existence. This is my first time seeing the band also seeing a concert at Citi Field. Citi Field is the stadium where the New York Mets play at. Usually concerts here are like Billy Joel and Paul McCartney. This was also the second night they were playing Citi Field.
The Opening act was a two piece band called Royal Blood. Royal Blood are from England. This band was something else. The singer who was only playing bass was killing it. He made his bass sound like a guitar. The sound they had was a bluesy Deftones. The way to describe the sound is mixing the distortion and the background sounds of the Deftones with the blues in rock n roll. They were amazing and so different. Overall Royal Blood was a great opener.
Foo Fighters took the stage and it was amazing. This was my first time seeing Foo Fighters. They played a lot of classics like “Everlong”, “Best of You”, and “Learning to Fly.” Hearing some of their classics was great. Also the sound was fantastic. Dave Grohl was hurt and had to stay on his throne.  A month ago he broke his leg while playing a show in Europe. He even showed a slide show of the whole process. The best part of the night is when they invited members of the Bad Brains, Dr. Know and Darryl Jenifer. They played “How low can a punk get” and “Regulators”. The night before they had Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers playing the Faces song “Stay with me.” Basically I saw the Foo Fighters play with their heroes in sold out Citi Field. I could see this band again and again. This show was one of the best shows of the year.
Foo Fighters- 10/10
Royal Blood- 9/10
Citi Field- 9/10
Overall Concert- 10/10
