Review- Yeezus by Kanye West

In 2013, Kanye West released a record entitled Yeezus, this was his seventh studio album, and a followup to Watch The Throne, a collaborative album with Jay Z. Kanye West is a Chicago rapper who's career has been met with nothing but success musically. He has been rapping since 2004, with his debut album The College Dropout.
Production wise, this album is absolutely phenomenal, with some of the best use of effects and samples that I've heard in a while. It has more of an experimental feel than anything with effects and samples that are somewhat atypical to rap this day in age. With very 80's synths on some tracks, sharp pauses and use of stranger more experimental samples. The effects on the vocals are also very interesting, with some distortion also being used on some of the verses, most notably on Black Skinhead. I think it's the experimental effects that drag me in the most.
It's Kanye's lyricism that has me hooked on this album so hard. Kanye writes some of the strongest, most hard hitting verses ever. With some incredibly powerful hooks, and lyrical themes of religion, the NWO, himself, and himself, you can't help but be drawn in by such catchy material. Overall, this release from Kanye is one of my favorites, and is definately deserving of a 9/10.
