Review: "i promised i'd be okay, but when october comes i won't know what to do." by Reasons

Long Island emo outfit Reasons' most recent release came in the form of "i promised i'd be okay, but when october comes i wont know what to do." This release from what anyone can ascertain is filled with sadness and emotion. The instrumentals follow in the footsteps of contemporary emo bands such as Old Gray and American Football, very atmospheric and airy, leading into brooding twinkly guitars, erratic drums that work well, and a really nice bass sound on all the tracks. Vocalist Dan brings to the band's tracks a raw emotion that the genre is well known for, they particularly beckon to the vocals bands like Old Gray. The lyrics on these tracks are relate-able in the saddest sense, they are filled with a particular pain you can only find in contemporary bands. Stand out tracks on this release include I waited for you and the instrumental track Tierra del Fuego, a personal favorite being the latter because of some really nice atmospheres that are very reminiscent of some ambient bands such as Mogwai. The recording quality on this release is very high quality especially for a local act such as Reasons, you can hear every instrument very clearly, and its lack of over-saturation makes it a prime example of a strong release from a local act.
Giving this release any low grade would be criminal, as this is arguably one of the most enjoyable emo releases from a local Long Island band in 2014 for me. The instrumentals are top notch, the recording quality is absolutely phenomenal and the vocals and lyrics are hard hitting and emotional, overall this release earns a solid 8/10.
