Review- Piece of You by Light Fire Down

Light Fire Down is a melodic punk/pop punk band from Weymouth UK, and I got a chance to listen to their second EP, Piece of You. I'm fairly impressed honestly, because this does not sound like anything that comes out of England, nor anything that contemporary pop punk. This record would be for fans of West Coast pop punk/melodic punk or Patent Pending.
To start, the production value on this record is very good, very crisp but my only gripe is that the vocals seem somewhat subdued, perhaps they aren't loud enough or that is just me losing my hearing. Regardless of that, the instrumentals are great and well put together on the release. The guitar riffs are catchy, and the drums are nice and fast paced. The basslines are also very well put together which is a big plus for me.
Vocally they have a feel that is very similar to Patent Pending or The Offspring if they were a little more subdued. Overall they are pleasant to listen to and I don't have any particular issues with them. The lyrics are formulaic of the genre, about girls in one way or another but that's just nitpicking, as they make for a relate able and enjoyable record. Overall, this release gets an 8/10 because it's actually fairly unique from other pop punk/melodic punk bands are doing now.
