Review- Stick To Your Guns Disobedient

February 10th Orange County hardcore outfit Stick To Your Guns will be releasing their fifth full length album Disobedient. However today the album streamed online today and I got a chance to check it out. So far I am very impressed with how it sounds.
This release beckons to their older material, such as The Hope Division and Diamond, the instrumentals go hard as ever and vocalist Jesse Barnett brings an aggressive tone but evens it out with a rough yet melodic sound as well. The guitars on this release are formulaic of melodic hardcore but work very well, and the bass tone is top notch. The drums are easy to move to, and are very well tracked. This release also uses a lot more samples and features, my particular favorite track is I Choose Nothing featuring Scott Vogel of Terror. This track also features a sample from Charlie Chaplin's speech at the end of The Dictator which I found very interesting. This album's lyricism is very politically charged as the name of the album would dictate, Disobedient. The subject matter relates to issues such as police brutality, unfairness in the justice system and social injustice as a whole. The lyrics are easy to relate to, in this day and age of senseless injustice, and make for easy memorization, this album as a whole is very, very catchy.
This release comes out swinging, and is a great followup to 2013's Diamond. Overall, this album earns an 8/10, and I would recommend seeing Stick To Your Guns on their tour for this album with Being As An Ocean, In Hearts Wake, and '68.
